20th
I saw Band of Horses last night, although I don’t really remember it because they didn’t take the stage until 2:30 a.m. I believe I had a Sparks energy drank, took my seat in the bleachers, and then slept with my eyes open through their set. After they played my favorite song, “The Great Salt Lake,” second, I told my friends it’d be fine by me if we left, and I meant it. But we stayed, and it was good, I think. Adam Duritz, ye of dreadlocked Counting Crows fame was in the house. The drunk MC kept pointing out that August and Everything After had been released 20 years ago, even though it’s only been something like 14. Then he introduced Band of Horses by calling them Merge recording artists (they’re on SubPop). Yeah, that guy was booed off the stage (mostly by me).
This evening I’m heading to Brooklyn to see …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, then to Pianos to see TAB the Band, then to the Delancey for a colleague’s 30th birthday party. Then tomorrow I think I’m heading to Philly. No rest for the wicked.
