13th
I’m back from my leaf peeping trip. It was pretty much a bust since there were no leaves, but it did allow me to go shopping in all these antique barns in Maine for stuff for my apt. I made out so well (and so inexpensively) that Lindsay and Neil want to go back in November. My apartment is about ready to be unveiled. I just need to do a few more things, then I will be posting pictures for the lovely Miss Shannon, who has been asking for them.
I had planned to make it back last night in time for the second Tori show at MSG Theatre, but after I learned she performed Pip on Thursday night, and that my odds were 50/50 of getting Clyde—and walking out—last night, I decided not to push my luck. And then I hit horrible traffic in Boston so it was a moot point anyway. I guess there are more shows this week, and my friends are telling me to squeeze one in, but the only city that remotely interests me on the list is Montreal, and that’s so effing far I might as well go to Indianapolis (where I know she’ll pull out an Ace or two). Maybe luck will have it that I will get sent somewhere for work and she’ll be playing there that night. I’m almost positive I’ll take my friend to the second to last show because I’m going back to LA for the holidays.
I know a lot of people are all fsdjfkldjsfkldsjkfljdsk about these concerts, but I just don’t see it. I mean, granted, they are miles better than the Beekeeper shows, which goes without saying, but I had a lot more fun during the Strange Little Tour and the second leg of the Scarlet’s Walk tour. The setlists were so diverse, you never, ever knew what you were going to get. Now, because each doll plays the same five or six songs, the encores are the same, the standard songs are the same, and the secret time is rotated between ten songs I’ve heard 45 times each, I can pretty much write out the setlist once I see the wig she’s wearing when she trots out, and maybe be off by one or two songs. That isn’t any fun. But again, this is my fault for having been to 89 shows. I’m sure if I’d only seen her 10 or 20 times I’d be on here asking someone for a ride to Syracuse today.
Today I am taking Pirate to the 13th annual dachshund Oktober Fest in Washington Square Park. I cannot wait.
