Last night Bill and I were watching Titanic when I posed the question of who would play Jack and Rose were the movie being filmed today. I came up with Jake Gyllenhaal for Jack, and Bill submitted Keira Knightley for Rose, before I realized it would probably just be Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams again. Webmaster J (who sadly moved back to California on Saturday) spotted Ryan Gosling by himself at a museum last week, but no one’s seen my girl since the whole pink hair phase. I hope she’s taking her break-up with Gosling in stride. Methinks she’s long overdue for a theatre near me.
I had a great idea to go and see a movie the other day, but then I realized there’s nothing I want to see. Can any of you recommend anything good?
I had a wonderful weekend here in Manhattan. Pretty much everyone I knew was either in the Hamptons, at the Shore, or in Vermont, so it was perfect that I ran into old friends from Stanford that I hadn’t seen in four years, who were in town for the weekend. One of them (Eiman) is getting his phd in neuroscience at Harvard, so I look forward to seeing him when I’m in Beantown for Columbus Day weekend. He promises to come visit me on Flag Day.
I’m off to Ikea in a few minutes, where I will hopefully pick out and bring home my desk. And then I won’t have to sit on the floor like I’ve been doing since I moved into my apartment five months ago. The apt is almost finished. Pictures will happen then, Shannon.
The regular fantasy baseball season has ended, and, just like in basketball earlier this year, I am the number one seed heading into the playoffs. Hopefully, I won’t lose on a tie-breaking technicality like I did in roundball. My cyber team is really jelling right now. Yah!
Tonight Neil and I are going to the U.S. Open to see Roger Federer play. It will be my first tennis match ever. I didn’t even attend one while I was in high school or college. We got the tickets a while back, so getting Federer was sheer luck. Hopefully, it will prove to be an omen for a good week. I will certainly take pictures.
I’m embarking on a rather large piece for ESPN about the psychology of Philadelphia fans. If anyone reading this is from Philly and would like to throw in her/his two cents, I’m all inbox.
